Magadh Division

Magadh Regional Transport Authority Office is located in the office of Commissioner, Magadh Division, Gaya in the campus since the year 1998. The Commissioner, Magadh Division is the Chairman of the Regional Transport Authority of Magadh Division, Gaya and Joint Commissioner-cum-Secretary is posted for the performance of the work of the Authority.
05 District Transport Office and 02 Integrated Check Posts are working under Regional Transport Authority. Magadh Regional Transport Authority is the regional office of the Bihar Government Transport Department at the divisional level. The main function of the Regional Transport Authority is to supervise the works related to revenue collection and transport by the District Transport Office.

The main functions of Regional Transport Authority Office are as follows:

To organize the meeting of authority to issue permits for stage carriage and after hearing in the meeting, to take decision for issue of permits for stage carriage.

The procedure to obtain Stage Carriage Permit is as follows

• Online application for permit is submitted from 01st to 07th of the month.
• The application received by the 07th of every month is published for objection and 07 days time is fixed for objection.
• The objection application received within the prescribed date, on the time-table, is presented for hearing in the meeting of the prescribed authority every month. After hearing, the decision received from the authority for permit approval, is issued after obtaining physical verification report from the District Transport Officer and Motor Vehicle Inspector.
• The application received for non-objection is issued by the Secretary Magadh Regional Transport Authority, on obtaining the physical verification report from the District Transport Officer / Motor Vehicle Inspector, and is presented for confirmation in the next meeting of the authority.
• Renewal/counter signature is done by the authority through stage carriage.
• Issuance of National Permit / Bihar Permit for Carrier vehicle is done by the Authority.
• Renewal of National Permit for carrier vehicle is done by the Authority.
• Issuance of Tourism Permit for Passenger buses are done by the Authority.
• Agent license is issued and also by the authority.
• The authority is committed to issue the above permit within the stipulated time.
• The decision of approval of the permit for stage carriage taken in the meeting of the Authority is uploaded on the Government Website.
